NASA's school trip
by Alejandro Serrano, David Redondo and Alicia Villalba (4F)

Last Wednesday we went on a school trip to the Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex (MDSCC) which is part of NASA's Deep Space Network. It is located in Robledo de Chavela.
At the beginning we saw two videos. One of them was about NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission, which landed a rover, Curiosity, on Mars in August 2012. The objectives include investigating Mars' habitability, studying its climate and geology, and collecting data. Here you can see a short version of the animation.

The second video we saw, was about the things they do in this complex. Watch the following video to know more about it.

We also did an activity about constellations in which we had to find stars and constellations, it was very fun! Finally we did our own "planisferio"and we learnt how to use it. Now we know all the stars and constellations that we can see each day of the year.

New theory explains the Nazca Lines in Peru,
by Álvaro Espinosa (6B).

THE STORY OF THE NAZCA LINES
The scientist think that the Nazka Lines were drawn by some old civilization to talk with the gods, but this is not true, is all fake.
The NAZCA LINES were drawn by the Maya civilization but not to communicate with the gods. The Maya civilization drew this because of a treasure.
If you look at them, you will discover that all the drawings had an arrow, and if you are a little bit intelligent you will find that the arrows point at the same point. Because of that l think that the treasure is there.
But l´m not sure because there is a particular arrow that is not pointing at anything in particular.
Is that the Maya want to confuse us?
Is that the treasure is not there?
I made another discovery, I think, on the left side, down, there’s a symbol, but they are like letters.
Is there a message?
Did the Maya want to say something to us?
IT IS A MISTERY

I like the world map, because at night you can see the constellations in the sky.
